She has dedicated her life to telling the stories of the dogs who have been forgotten and left behind by giving a voice to the voiceless through the power of photography.

Her images grace calendar lines, greeting cards, books, magazines, products, packaging and advertising campaigns throughout the commercial pet industry. Kaylee is a best-selling author and topped Amazon’s photography book charts with the release of her 2020 title ’Dogtography: A Knock-Your-Socks-Off Guide To Capturing The Best Dog Photos On Earth’.
Kaylee is known for her love of vibrant colors and her imagery’s emphasis on the comedy and character of man’s best friend. Her unique, immediately identifiable signature photographic style has been over a decade in the making, and is drawn directly from the inspiration she finds inside the soul of a dog.

Where you will stay….

I have attended an in-person workshop with Kaylee, Sam, and Nicole and to this day, I still feel so indebted to them! They uncover their photography wizardry in an extremely fun learning environment and their passion for the craft is just contagious! Kaylee is one of the sweetest people on earth, and once you get over being a fangirl, it’s just such a pleasure to learn from her. Sam is an amazing photographer, lighting guru, and photoshop “guy” (for a lack of a better word) with extreme knowledge of the technical side PLUS he’s funny! It really helps to learn technical things from people with a sense of humor. And lastly Nicole, the most dedicated coach who would demystify all things business while making gorgeous images herself! This is a dream team and without attending their workshop from the beginning of my dog photography career, I wouldn’t have a career today.

I have been lucky to attend several workshops by now hosted by Kaylee, Sam, and Nicole. From amazing retreats to technical and business workshops and webinars. Every one of them was an awesome learning experience! Kaylee and Sam are so passionate about photography and dogs and will inspire you to push yourself and improve your skills. Sam is also a Photoshop wizard and has a great knowledge of photographing people, so all this combined, they have a great amount of knowledge and experience to share with their students. Nicole...is probably the most driven and brilliant photographer I know. It always amazes me how her brain works and the amount of information she shares with her students. She will teach you anything and everything you need to know to make your photography business successful and profitable, you just need to implement what you learn. Her passion to teach shows in everything she creates.
Have Questions?
What level should my photography be at to benefit from this workshop?
All students should be comfortable using their camera in manual mode. While we can certainly offer some insight on your settings, if you are spending the majority of your time and energy at the workshop trying to determine how to adjust your settings you will likely feel frustrated and behind as we focus on the other details that go into creating engaging dog photography images. If you are just learning how to manage your exposures, we highly recommend the book Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson.
Will we learn off-camera flash at this workshop?
At this workshop, we will focus only on natural light photography as it is critical to master working with natural light before adding in artificial light sources.
Should I bring a computer?
Yes! While it’s not required, if you would like to review and edit your images a computer will be necessary.
What editing programs should I use?
You can use any program that you wish, however, all instruction will be based on Lightroom and Photoshop.
What version of Photoshop do I need to be running?
We recommend a recent version of Photoshop CC. It’s not a requirement, but if you are still running CS6 you are going to be wanting to upgrade after you see all of the updates that have happened since then!
How large will the shooting groups be?
Since the workshop is limited to only 9 students, the shoots will be a strict “NO ELBOWING ZONE”. Each instructor will work with 3 students at each shoot with 2 sets of models per instructor. This will allow you to get some quality shooting, have someone to help you set up your shots, and have some 1:1 shooting time with your instructors in each session.
How much access will I have to the instructors?
We are an open book! Before arriving at the workshop, we recommend making a list of all of the questions that you have or the clarity that you seek. Much of it will be addressed during class time, but since we are all staying at the same location the teaching doesn’t end when the cameras are put away. While we do request a decent nights sleep, we are open and available throughout the entire experience.
Is there any restriction on who may attend the workshop?
Nope! We invite any photographer from any market to attend Houndvision.
Will you be holding this workshop again?
This workshop came about due to the fact that we have been unable to hold our scheduled series of international Barka retreats after the start of COVID. (www.petphotographyretreats.
Can I bring my husband/wife/partner?
Yes! There are limited opportunities for guests. To bring a guest, you must choose a private room and there is an additional $500 charge which will also allow your guest to join us for all of the meals!
What if I have more questions?
If you have any additional questions, send an email to Liz at [email protected]
